From your friends at Port Washington State Bank
This summer, at a variety of community events in Ozaukee County, Port Washington State Bank distributed patriotic red white and blue glasses to kids of all ages. With the solar eclipse expected on August 21, bank officials bring an important safety issue to the attention of those who may still be in possession of these glasses.
“The patriotic glasses we distributed were purchased with the sole intent of providing a 3-D viewing experience of fireworks” stated Steve Schowalter, President. “It was only recently brought to our attention that due to manufacturer error a portion of the glasses contained a legend indicating acceptability for solar viewing. Not having purchased glasses for that purpose and not being able to verify the accuracy of that statement causes us to issue this warning.” He emphasized “Neither the sun nor the eclipse should be viewed with these glasses at any time or in any way. To do so could cause serious injury to the eyes”.
The glasses referenced contain the pattern of the American flag on the front with plastic film across the lenses. The blue and white Port Washington State Bank (PWSB) logo is printed on the side arm of the glasses. Schowalter added “We are taking all appropriate measures to properly inform community members of any possible dangers, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause”
